Totally second the sound suggestion - podcast or music. eating is more fun for me when I feel like what I’m eating is fancy. I’ll go to an independent grocery store (in Portland we have Zupans, but unsure where you are…) and I buy some of the really nice looking prepared stuff.

Or splurge on a really good olive oil and pour some onto a pretty and small plate. Sprinkle some sea salt and italian herbs on top and then use it to dip a fresh bread into.

To make that more of a meal, throw in some dried mangos, various olives, slices of salami (if you eat meat), hummus, pre-cut veggies (carrots, celery, broccolini, sliced tomatoes) a few nuts or seeds, etc. It’s pretty, healthy, and easy!

And! Eat outside. A picnic! Set up an outdoor eating situation with VIBES. You get to incorporate sunshine (fun) with eating (boring).

Set & setting 🤯! LOVE the simplicity of make olive oil pretty/fancy/enticing. Salami is one of the things I consistently eat, but like a whole package at once straight from the package.

Make hard boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge. Cheap, easy protein. Then use Amanda’s suggestion and make a mandala of eggs and pickles. :) And whatever else you have that you don’t have to cook!

Have you seen any reels w egg flights?

Is this internet speak? I do not understand the question:

Have you seen any reels w egg flights?

Ha- I guess it is internet speak. Dang! Ive seen videos showing people making many different versions of deviled eggs- everything you can imagine- and then presenting them on a platter like a flight of drinks. Have I done it? no. Looks good though!

my only advice for making cooking more "fun" (also not a fan!) is to listen to something while doing it. assignment: pick a random new podcast episode + make some yummy pasta w pre made sauce (my easiest comfort food meal)

Somehow I keep forgetting about SOUND. Liking the music or comedy or whatever is everything.

Food mandalas in a bowl are a creative way to arrange food in a circular pattern.

I do love a pretty design. But what actual foods? Give me 4 ingredients.

Start with any type of base—rice, beans, yogurt, noodles, oatmeal—then arrange whatever you typically eat with that base in the shape of a mandala on top. This could include meat, seeds, nuts, fruit, vegetables, or even flowers. Don’t overthink it; just make art with your food. ‘Eating the rainbow’ is generally a healthy rule. Choose seasonal colors at the grocery store, just like you would for a paint palette, and create a masterpiece in a bowl/plate. Let color, shape, and texture guide you. Since you’ll be eating it, check in with your senses to steer your decisions—taste, texture, temperature, etc. We eat with our eyes first, so focus on pleasing yourself visually. It works for me!

Totally hear you, Serena! I can often forget to eat, especially when I’m preoccupied or busy. Living alone might also have something to do with it for me, too - but I’ve become a bit more disciplined, because I know that I need nourishment, but also because enjoy a good meal! I also appreciate your take on the various KINDS of nourishment - sunshine, etc. Thanks for sharing.
